This restaurant could be very good, if only it could get the basics right. Our greeting was at best OK and we were left to hang our WET coats on the back of our chairs – as had the majority of other people, not fitting with the style the restaurant it is trying to portray. One member of our party has specific dietary needs and we phoned in advance to check a plain steak would be available (which we knew, with the supplement, we would be paying over the odds for). However, we were told on the evening this was not possible. After some negotiation it was agreed it could be provided – though the overbearing Restaurant Manager insisted on trying to persuade our guest on the merits of the sauces. We were very clear these were not wanted. So what arrived? A steak in a sauce! Two of the other three meals were cold, not helped by being served on cold plates. A great shame as all the meat was excellent and beautifully cooked – but totally spoilt by what are small things to get right - listen to the customer and heat the plates! We will not return and I am left wondering how it has won awards. nlow
