Dear Spies,
I have been asked to do a piece on eating out in Kent and East Sussex for the BBC Radio Kent programme. In particular we are looking for places that have great pub beer gardens, or areas where you can eat outside.
If you have any tips, recommendations or places to avoid, let me know and I'll mention them.
Thanks

al fresco in Kent
Norman:
I'd recommend The Snowdrop in Lewes if you want generous portions of good food made from fresh ingredients. Sitting in the garden can be a bit noisy as the tunnel road's behind the pub. However, a visit to the Snowdrop is a generally good experience all round. It's very down to earth, caters to two and often three generations of hippies and it always has a range of top notch local beers from independents. The garden's nice and has an unusual waterfall, and it's family-friendly. The view of the chalk cliffs just behind the pub is completely spectacular. It's a few months since I ate there - the best period was when Rowan Beckingham was chef - but if I fancied really tasty healthy al fresco food with a choice of meat, fish and vegetarian then that's where I'd head. Decent prices, and the various Sunday roasts are huge. If you can't get down there to try the food and do a review yourself I'm happy to go instead and write a piece for Spy.
